Adverse Childhood Experiences:

Opening the Conversation

Training ▪ Luncheon ▪ Discussion

▪ By Invitation Only ▪ RSVP Required ▪

About the training:

Learn about the incredible advancements in brain research and health studies that have opened the door to understanding how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) shape the individual, become an extremely powerful determinant of health across the lifespan and drive high cost social problems.

What are the ACEs? They are: Childhood emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse; neglect; mentally ill person in the home; drug addicted or alcoholic family member; witnessing domestic violence; loss of a parent; and incarceration of a family member.

You will learn:

  • What the newest brain research and epidemiology tell us about ACEs and the developing child.
  • Typical patterns of physical, mental and behavioral health outcomes across the lifespan.
  • How the individual effects of ACEs in one generation can lead to escalation of child abuse, substance abuse and other major social problems over the course of several generations.
  • How YOU can make a difference!

Opportunity for discussion:

After attending the training you will have the opportunity to discuss the ACEs information in a small group environment, while having lunch at the Silverwater Cafe.   Discussions will focus on how this information may be beneficial to your work.
