“Working together to help children, youth and families succeed”
Plans are underway for the second annual “Our Kids: Our Business,” a social awareness campaign focusing on child abuse prevention. The campaign is for the month of April.
The Kick-Off Luncheon will be held on Friday, March 27th at the Elks Club from 12:00 to 1:30 with the program being from 12:30 to 1:30.
PLEASE NOTE: Chief Gil Kerlikowske sends his regrets and will not be a speaker for this event as previously planned.
Laura Wells, Director of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Washington, will be speaking in his place, along with Dr. Claudia Black.
Chief Gil Kerlikowske from the Seattle Police Department, recently nominated by President Obama to be the new Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, will be unable to speak as planned on March 27th at the kick-off
luncheon for Jefferson County’s second annual “Our Kids: Our Business,” a social awareness campaign focusing on child abuse prevention. Chief Kerlikowske will be in Washington D.C. for briefings and meetings with Senators in preparation for his confirmation hearings later this year.
We are fortunate to have Laura Wells, Director of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, Washington, as a keynote speaker. Laura Wells has been working with Chief Kerlikowske on child abuse and neglect since 2006. Dr. Claudia Black, a renowned author and trainer internationally recognized for her pioneering and contemporary work with traumatized family systems (also born and raised in Jefferson County) will be the other keynote speaker.
